Fri, 11 May 2007 Plato's Republic is one of the great works in philosophy. Hear how Plato thought society should be organised and why he wanted to ban representational art. Nigel Warburton reads the first chapter of his book Philosophy: The Classics. Comments[3] |
Enjoyed three chapters now and feel enriched. Though interested in philiosophy and having read other popular overviews, I never found such a clear explaining and contextualising approach as this one. And even having it read !!
Will certainly check back, enjoy and learn.
Thank you very much Nigel, allowing us to listen to your bright chapters is very generous indeed.

This seems to be one of the most popular stories in an introductory course to academic philosophy. I was sucked into philosophy for a couple years before I even knew this story and I first learned it from this podcast. Thanks for posting!
